How it works
- 1. Message us with your reference code. We check the child's documents and both parents' passports before anything is submitted.
- 2. We agree your quote with our vetted agent and confirm the price and appointment date to you.
- 3. You pay, and our agent prepares the application, the letter of consent, and books the appointment.
- 4. A parent attends the High Commission with the child once. We brief you the day before and track the passport to your door.
What you must do in person: Children must attend in person at Nigeria High Commission, 9 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5BX (submissions 9:00am to 1:00pm) with at least one parent. The contactless route is not available for anyone under 18 or for first-time applications.
Your passport is dispatched within 10 working days, or we refund our coordination fee.
The High Commission's current passport pages do not state a processing time. Our guarantee sets one for coordinated cases, on the terms below.
How it is counted: The clock starts on the working day after your documents are complete and your coordination fee is paid, and stops on the day your new passport is dispatched to you. The period is no more than ten working days. When we quote, we confirm in writing that your case qualifies; the rare cases that cannot be done in ten days by anyone (for example where a document must first be obtained from Nigeria) are told so before you pay anything.
If we miss it: If we miss it, we refund your coordination fee in full. Official fees paid to the Nigeria Immigration Service or the High Commission are outside our control and are not refundable by us.
The guarantee does not cover delays caused by:
- Documents that turn out to be incomplete or incorrect, or information that is inaccurate.
- A NIN that does not match your passport details and was not corrected first (we check this before you pay).
- An appointment missed or rescheduled on your side.
- An official system outage, suspension or policy change announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service or the High Commission.
- A case we told you in writing at quote stage falls outside the guarantee, for example where a document must first be obtained from Nigeria.

- Original and photocopy of the child's birth certificate showing the parents' details
- Original and photocopy of any other passport the child holds, for example a British passport
- Copy of the data page of both parents' passports, at least one of which must be Nigerian
- Letter of consent signed by both parents, or court proof of sole custody if either parent's documents or consent are missing
- If the Nigerian parent has died, a copy of the death certificate
- If the child was born outside the UK, a copy of the documents used to enter the UK, plus a certified translation of any document not in English
- Copy of the child's NIN, matching the passport details

Renewal of a child's passport
- The child's original Nigerian passport
- The child's long birth certificate
- Copy of the data page of both parents' passports if both parents are named on the long birth certificate; at least one parent must hold a Nigerian passport

What causes delays
- Birth certificate that does not show the parents' details. A full certificate is needed.
- One parent unavailable to sign the consent letter. The High Commission asks for court proof of sole custody instead, and we check what you have before you book.
- A consent letter signed by only one parent. The High Commission asks for both.

Can my baby born in the UK get a Nigerian passport?
Yes. A child born in the UK to a Nigerian parent can be issued a Nigerian passport. You will need the birth certificate showing the parents' details, copies of both parents' passport data pages (at least one must be Nigerian), a letter of consent signed by both parents, and a copy of the child's NIN.
Does my child need a Nigerian passport to travel to Nigeria?
A child with only a British passport needs a Nigerian e-visa to enter Nigeria. A Nigerian passport removes the need for a visa on each trip.
Can a child use the contactless renewal?
No. The NIS contactless route is for adults renewing only. All children attend in person.
Do both parents have to attend?
The High Commission asks for a letter of consent signed by both parents. Who needs to attend with the child depends on your situation, and we confirm it with you before you book.
