How it works

What you must do in person: Children must attend in person at Nigeria High Commission, 9 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2N 5BX (submissions 9:00am to 1:00pm) with at least one parent. The contactless route is not available for anyone under 18 or for first-time applications.

The High Commission publishes no processing time and most agents say "several weeks". We put a number on it and stand behind it.
How it is counted: The clock starts on the working day after your documents are complete and your coordination fee is paid, and stops on the day your new passport is dispatched to you. Ten working days, maximum. If we miss it: If we miss it, we refund your coordination fee in full, no argument. Official fees paid to the Nigeria Immigration Service or the High Commission are outside our control and are not refundable by us.
The guarantee does not cover delays caused by:
- Documents that turn out to be incomplete or incorrect, or information that is inaccurate.
- A NIN that does not match your passport details and was not corrected first (we check this before you pay).
- An appointment missed or rescheduled on your side.
- An official system outage, suspension or policy change announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service or the High Commission.
- A case we told you in writing at quote stage falls outside the guarantee, for example where a document must first be obtained from Nigeria.

Can my baby born in the UK get a Nigerian passport?
Yes. A child born in the UK to a Nigerian parent can be issued a Nigerian passport. You will need the full UK birth certificate showing the parents' details, the parents' Nigerian passports, and a letter of consent.
Does my child need a Nigerian passport to travel to Nigeria?
A child with only a British passport needs a Nigerian e-visa to enter Nigeria. A Nigerian passport removes that requirement and is usually cheaper than repeated visas.
Can a child use the contactless renewal?
No. The NIS contactless route is for adults renewing only. All children attend in person.
Do both parents have to attend?
One parent must attend with the child. Consent from the other parent is normally given by letter; we confirm the exact requirement for your situation.
