Nigerian NIN Registration in the UK (NIMC diaspora enrolment)
Nigerian Docs UK coordinates Nigerian NIN (National Identification Number) enrolment in the UK through NIMC-licensed partners, and NIN corrections when your details do not match your passport. Since the NIMC Act 2026 (signed 26 June 2026) a NIN is mandatory for Nigerian passport applications. Enrolment is biometric and in person at a licensed centre; the partner sets the fee, which we confirm to you before you pay.
Independent coordination service. Not the Nigeria High Commission, NIS or NIMC. Official fees are paid to the government directly; you can also apply yourself using the official portals linked below.
Who this is for: Nigerians in the UK who need a NIN for a passport application, banking or SIM linkage, or need an existing NIN corrected. This is the Nigerian NIMC number, not a UK National Insurance number.

What it costs
Official fees are paid by you to the government bodies directly. Our coordination fee is quoted to you, with your appointment date, before you pay anything.
| Fee | Amount | Paid to |

NIMC licenses private partners to enrol Nigerians abroad and each partner sets its own fee. Adult enrolment in the UK is typically in the region of $50, with lower fees for children and for slip reissue. We confirm the exact fee at your chosen licensed centre when you message us. NIMC has publicly named at least one London operator as NOT licensed; we only route you to centres we have verified.
Official fees verified against the Nigeria High Commission and NIS published notices on 13 September 2026. You pay official fees to the government bodies directly, never to us.
How it works
- 1. Message us with your reference code. We confirm whether you need a new NIN, a modification, or a slip, and which licensed centre is nearest.
- 2. We agree the fee and confirm price and your enrolment slot to you.
- 3. You pay and attend the licensed centre for biometric capture (it takes minutes).
- 4. We track your NIN slip and, if this is for a passport, move straight on to the passport booking.
What you must do in person: NIN enrolment is biometric and must be done in person at a NIMC-licensed centre. Licensed centres operate in London and several other UK cities; we direct you to a verified one.
Documents you will need
New NIN, adult
- Nigerian passport (current or expired) or Nigerian birth certificate
- Proof of UK address
- Your details exactly as they appear on your passport (name order, date of birth)
Child
- Child's birth certificate
- A parent's NIN and passport
- The parent attends with the child
Modification
- Your existing NIN
- The passport or certificate showing the correct details
- Supporting document for the change (for example a marriage certificate)
We check all of this with you before anything is submitted, so you attend once.
What causes delays
- Enrolling with a name order or date of birth that differs from your passport. This creates the mismatch that later blocks your passport application.
- Using an unlicensed operator. Only NIMC-licensed partners can enrol you.
Common questions
Is this the same as a UK National Insurance number?
No. This page is about the Nigerian National Identification Number issued by NIMC. A UK National Insurance number is a completely different thing issued by HMRC.
Do I need a NIN to renew my Nigerian passport?
Yes. The NIMC Act 2026 makes a NIN mandatory for passport applications, and your NIN details must match your passport.
Can I register for a NIN online from the UK?
No. Enrolment is biometric and in person at a NIMC-licensed centre. Some steps can be started online, but fingerprints and photograph are captured in person.
How much does NIN registration cost in the UK?
Licensed partners set their own fees; adult enrolment is typically around $50, with lower fees for children and slip reissue. We confirm the exact fee at your nearest verified centre before you pay.
My NIN details do not match my passport. What do I do?
You need a NIN modification before the passport application will go through. We coordinate the modification and then the passport, in that order.
