What causes delays

Common questions
Can I travel to Nigeria from the UK with an expired passport?
Not on the expired passport itself. You either renew it, or, if travel is urgent, obtain an Emergency Travel Certificate (£120, same day) for one-way travel to Nigeria.
Can I return to the UK on an ETC?
No. The ETC is one-way to Nigeria and valid for 30 days. You will need a valid passport to come back, so plan the replacement before you fly or arrange it in Nigeria.
Do dual citizens need an ETC?
If you hold a valid British passport you can travel on it with a Nigerian e-visa instead. Many dual nationals find renewing the Nigerian passport cheaper than a visa; we can advise on your dates.
